Abstract
The 39 th Annual Meeting of the Korean Society of Gynecologic Oncology hypertension, diabetes, and dyslipidemia. However, few studies have evaluated the association between depression and these chronic diseases in cervical cancer patients, and the results have been inconsistent. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate the association between depression and chronic diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, and dyslipidemia in cervical cancer patients. Methods: A total of 330 women with cervical cancer were included in this study, which used Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey date from 2010 to 2021.Participants were categorized into 2 groups, depression and non-depression, based on their answers to survey items related to depression.Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to evaluate the influence of chronic diseases on depression in cervical cancer patients. Results: A total of 78 (23.64%) women were classified as depression group, and 252 (76.36%) women were classified as non-depression group. In multivariate logistic regression analysis adjusting for age, menopausal status, and smoking status, diabetes was associated with an odds ratio for depression in cervical cancer patients of 2.47 (95% confidence interval=1.205-5.071).However, hypertension and dyslipidemia among chronic diseases were not associated with depression in cervical cancer patients. Conclusion:This study suggests that diabetes may be associated a higher risk for depression in cervical cancer. Therefore, appropriate treatment of diabetes in cervical cancer patients may contribute to lowering the risk of depression in the future.
