Abstract
MiRNAs have become a new direction of studies on endometriosis in recent years. By comparing miRNAs expression difference between ectopic and eutopic endometrium, the related studies found that miRNAs may be involved in the development of endometriosis. The studies on specific expressed miRNAs had shown that miRNAs have effect on regulation of the invasion and proliferation in ectopic endometrium cells by controlling the expression of target genes. For instance, miR-let-7b, miR-199 a and miR-10 b could affect the invasion of ectopic endometrium cells by regulating the expression of MMPs. MiR-17-5p and miR-23a/b could regulate the synthesis of estrogen to promote the proliferation of ectopic endometrium cells. In addition, miRNAs are also closely linked to endometriosis-associated infertility. The review aims to discuss the role of microRNAs in endometriosis through summarizing the studies on endometriosis-associated miRNAs.
