Study in VEGF Level Secreted by Monocytes Macrophages in Endometriosis

Abstract

Objective:The concentration of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF)was assessed to define the role of monocyte and macrophage in endometriosis pathogenesis.Methods:The concentrations of VEGF in culture media of peritoneal fluid macrophage and peripheral blood monocyte of20patients with endometriosis(2patients in stageⅡ,8patients in stageⅢ,and10patients in stageⅣ)and other30patients of control group were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).Results:The VEGF concentration of periˉtoneal fluid macrophage supernatant in endometriosis group is significantly higher than that of control group,with statistical significance(P0.05),but no statistical difference was found in that of peripheral blood monocyte supernatant between the two groups.The VEGF concentrations in the supernatant of monocyte and macrophage showed no significant difference among different stages in endometriosis,and no correlation with AFS-r score.Conclusion:It was peritoneal fluid macrophage not peripheral blood monocyte which facilitate the ectopic endometrium adhesion,plant and growth via secreting high level of VEGF,and VEGF level is not correlated with AFS-r score.
