Using a convergent mixed-methods design, the study is a combination of both quantitative and qualitative approaches aimed at understanding the influence of HRE on the realization of the SDG 4 goals. The study enlightens the reader on the supportive role of HRE in accomplishing inclusive, equitable education as well as sustainable development practices using surveys, interviews, and policy reviews. Design/Methodology/Approach – This study investigates the convergence points of HRE and SDG 4 in South Asia, namely in Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan. Using a convergent mixed-methods approach, it combines qualitative and quantitative data to assess how HRE is contributing towards attaining SDG 4. The study is designed to identify feasible practices for integrating human rights education into inclusive, sustainable educational settings. Findings – Findings highlight that there are very strong linkages between HRE and SDG 4 in South Asia. It upholds inclusive education, gender equity, and human dignity, which is an inalienable objective of SDG 4. Socio-political barriers, scarcity of resources, and cultural resistance do inhibit its complete assimilation. However, the study demonstrates how synergies are surfacing, which suggests that HRE may actually help advance equitable, quality education in the region. Originality/Value – This study will bring forth a new understanding of how HRE can contribute to quality education for diverse socio-political contexts in South Asia using a convergent mixed-method design.
