Clinical observation of high intensity focused ultrasound combine with mifepristone in treating adenomyosis

Objective To evaluate the therapeutic effect of high intensity focused ultrasound( HIFU) with Mifepristone on adenomysis.Methods 100 patients with adenomyosis were randomly divided in study group using HIFU combine with Mifepristone and control group using HIFU only.The clinical symptom,uterine size and lesion size were compared between two groups.Results The percentage of patients with Ⅴ- Ⅵ dysmenorrhea was decreased from 22% to 7% after 12 months treatment,uterine size was reduced by 18% and the lesion size was reduced by 26%.The relief rate of dysmenorrhea in study group was significantly higher than control group after 6 to12 months treatment( P 0.05),the relief rate of anemia in study group was significantly higher than control group( P 0.05).Conclusion Both HIFU and HIFU combined with Mifepristone are effective in treating adenomyosis.The therapeutic effect of HIFU combined with Mifepristone seems superior to using HIFU only.
