Abstract
Some researchers reported that Miswak aqueous extract has an antifertility property in female albino Wistar rats. But there were no available investigations explain its effect on estrous cycle, uterine ultrastructure even uterine blood supply after Miswak aqueous extract administration. Twelve female albino rats (165.3 ± 3.269 g) were divided equally into two groups. In the control group (CG), the animals received normal saline daily for 4 weeks. While in the Miswak treated group (MTG), the animals were received orally 900 mg/kg of body weight of the Miswak aqueous extract daily for the same period. Results revealed that the uteri of the animals in CG were active show different stages of cyclicity and most were in estrous phase. While, in MTG showed a state of inactivity (anestrous). This work elucidates that Miswak aqueous extract can be used to inhibit uterus activity as animals enter anestrous state.
