Abstract
Objective To explore the clinical significance of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) and CA125 levels in peritoneal fluid of patients with endometriosis. Methods VEGF and CA125 levels in peritoneal fluids collected from 20 patients with endometriosis(EMS group) and 26 patients with non-endometriosis serving as controls were detected by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) and radio immunoassay. Results VEGF and CA125 levels in peritoneal fluid of patients with EMS group were significantly higher than those in the control group(P0.05).During the menstrual cycle,VEGF levels in proliferative phase in the EMS group were significantly higher than those in secretory phase(P0.05),and no significant differences in CA125 were detected between proliferative and secretory phases(P0.05).There were no significant differences in VEGF or CA125 levels between the proliferative and secretory phase in the control group(P0.05).During proliferative phase, the level of VEGF and CA125 in EMS group was higher than that in the control group(P0.01),but in secretory phase, there was no significant of VEGF and CA125 between the two groups(P0.05).Conclusion The increase of VEGF and CA125 levels in peritoneal fluid of patients with endometriosis indicates the disease progress.
