Abstract
[Objective]To study expression and association of EMMPRIN,MMP-2 and TIMP-2 with ectopic and eutopic endometrium in patients with endometriosis.[Methods]The expressions of EMMPRIN,MMP-2 and TIMP-2 in ectopic and eutopic endometrium were detected by immunohistochemical method in 36 patients with endometriosis(study group)and in 20 patients with uterine fibroid(control group).[Results]The positive expression rates of EMMPRIN and MMP-2 was higher and the positive expression rate of TIMP-2 was lower in ectopic endometrium than those in the eutopic and the normal endometriurn group(P﹤0.05).The positive expression rates of EMMPRIN and MMP-2 was higher and the positive expression rate of TIMP-2 was lower in Ⅲ-Ⅳ stage than those in Ⅰ-Ⅱstage(P﹤0.05).Compared with the normal endometriurn group,MMP-2 and TIMP-2 had the inverse correlation(P = 0.045),EMMPRIN and MMP-2 did not showed obvious association; In the ectopic endometrium group,EMMPRIN and MMP-2 had association(P = 0.009).Although there was not significant correlation between MMP-2 and TIMP-2 expression(P = 0.298),but the uniformity was very bad.[Conclusion]EMMPRIN,MMP-2and TIMP-2 are all involved in the process of invasion and tissue remodeling, which is supposed to be part of pathogenesis of endometriosis. The high expression of MMP-2 in the ectopic endometrium suggested that the ectopic endometrium with endometriosis may be more invasive and prone to peritoneal implantation.
