Treatment pain of endometriosis with laparoscopic presacral neurectomy in 26 cases

Objective To investigate the safety and efficacy of laparoscopic presacral neurectomy (LSPN) in treatment pain of endometiosis. Methods From May 2004 to April 2005,LSPN were performed in 26 patients with severe pain of endometiosis The degree of pain was measure by visual analogue score. Results The average operation time was (38.15±5.89) min (30~50),and the average blood loss was (39.23±21.39) mL (20~100) in 26 cases. No severe operative and postoperative complications were found in all patients. The mean hospital stay was (5.23±1.24) day (3~7) and the period of post-operative follow up was 24 months in every patient. All the cured rates of pain were 92.30% (24/26) and completely relieved rates were 80.77% (21/26) in 1 month ,6 months and 12 months follow up time. After 24 months follow up,the cured and completely relieved rate were 76.92% (20/26) and 57.69% (15/26) repectively. Conclusions LPSN can be performed safely and efficiently in treatment severe pain of endometriosis in our study.
