The expression and significance of ανβ3 integrin in patients with endometriosis

Objective:To detect the expression of ανβ3 integrin in serum in patients with endometriosis,explore the role of ανβ3 integrin in the occurrence and development of endometriosis.Methods:The expression of ανβ3 integrin was detected by using SP immunohistochemical technique in 20 specimens of ectopic endometrium and 20 specimens of eutopic endometrium from the patients with endometriosis and 20 specimens of normal endometrium from women without endometriosis.Results:The expression levels of ανβ3 integrin in ectopic and eutopic endometrium were significantly higher than that in the normal endometrium(P0.05).Compared with eutopic endimetrium,the expression of ανβ3 integrin in ectopic endometrium showed no signficance(P0.05).Conclusion:The abnormal expression of ανβ3 integrin in ectopic endometrium may be related to the occurrence and development of endometriosis.
