Hospitals are the primary pole for these services. These services depend on availability a high-performance building concerned with both patient and environmental health. One of the newest trends in hospital design and construction is LEED certification for sustainability. Improving and developing health services in the cities of Iraq, including Hilla city, requires rethinking in the planning, design and implementation of hospitals in order to make them sustainable services for society and the environment. Accordingly, the process of assessment the current hospitals in Hilla city comes within this context. From here, the research objective has emerged in conducting an assessment of some of the major hospitals in the city, using Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design virgin 4 (LEED V4), to show their performance levels and classification, and the required policies and procedures. The main conclusion of this research show that ,the Imam AL-Sadiq Teaching Hospital obtained golden classification, while the hospitals (- Babylon Teaching Hospital for Women and Children, Al-Hilla Teaching Hospital, Al Noor Hospital for Children, Marjan Medical City.) obtained uncertified classification due to the failure of the infrastructure and construction condition ,with the functional aspect which concerns the health aspect, especially, so it needs to be fully rehabilitated. This research recommend, that to improve the performance of Imam AL-Sadiq Teaching Hospital and upgrading from the golden classification towards the platinum classification, and to improving the performance of the other hospitals in Hilla city and upgrading from the uncertified classification to the certified classification and then to the silver classification. Also to complete the assessment of the performance of the other hospitals in Hilla city, according to the LEED v4 criteria, as well as assess the performance of the hospitals in other cities of Babil Province, and then assess the performance of hospitals in cities of other provinces of Iraq. Finally, to Issue legislation to include building permits requiring that LEED v4 criteria are met for new hospital designs, and followed up implementation.
