Abstract

Objective To study the expression of TSP-I in endometrial adenocarcinoma and its correlation with VEGF and CD105. Methods TSP-1, VEGF proteins and CD105 were assessed by immunohistochemistry and analyzed using image analysis in a group of 56 patients with endometrial adenocarcinoma, 20 patients with normal endometria and 18 patients with atypia hyperplasia. Results The level of TSP-1 expression was found in an decreasing order, while VEGF and CD105 were increased from normal endometria to atypia hyperplasia, and then to endnmetrial adenocarcinoma (all P<0.05). The expression of TSP-1 and VEGF has no association with clinic pathological parameters (P<0.05). The CD105 was significantly correlated with the clinical stage and depth of myometrial invasion (P<0.05). In the cases of endometrial cancer, there was no correlation between expression of TSP-1 and VEGF (r=-0.239, P>0.05). TSP-1 was negatively associated with CD105 in lower expressed VEGF (r=-0.388, P=0.01). No association between the expression of TSP-1 with survival time was found (P>0.05). Conclusions The decreased expression of TSP-1and increased expression of VEGF in endometria may he involved in endometrial adenocarcinoma angingenesis. The imbalance in expression of VEGF and TSP-1 might he related to the carcinogenesis and progression of endometrial adenocarcinoma.
