Health-related Quality of Life in women with endometriosis; a systematic review

Endometriosis is a term that describes the ectopic implants of endometrial cells that grow progressively. Endometriosis is commonly associated with several symptoms, such as chronic pelvic pain, dyspareunia, dysmenorrhea, and dyschezia. Endometriosis negatively impacts several aspects of women\'s lives, such as physical, social, and psychological aspects, and as a result, it has a great impact on the health-related quality of life (HRQOL). This review aimed to assess the HRQOL among women suffering from endometriosis by reviewing the previous studies conducted on this subject. The databases of PubMed, Scopus, Elsevier, Science Direct, and Google Scholar were explored starting from 2019 till 2023. The included keywords were \"HRQOL, Impact, Influence, Effects, Correlation, Association, Women, Endometriosis, Assessment". The inclusion criteria were English original articles available for full-text and reported HRQOL among women with endometriosis. A total of 818 articles were obtained, and only eight studies were eligible for the inclusion criteria. The main findings included the impact of endometriosis on HRQOL and the affected domains. The factors that affected HRQOL, work productivity, and other assessed conditions. Endometriosis has negative impacts on HRQOL among women, and the HRQOL can be worse with the co-existence of additional factors. Also, endometriosis negatively affected the work productivity of affected women.
