The paper examines existing research to elucidate the broad therapeutic potential of ketamine and the mechanisms underlying each modality. The primary objective is to present the differences between psychedelic and psycholytic applications of ketamine, which is essentially a dose-response effect, focusing on their efficacy in treating mental health disorders such as depression, anxiety, addictions and PTSD. The biochemical interactions and subjective experiences associated with each effect type, contributing to a more developed understanding of ketamine’s therapeutic spectrum is also investigated. This paper seeks to inform clinical practices and future research directions by highlighting the distinct and overlapping benefits of these two paradigms of ketamine when used in therapy. Further research such as the innovative development of the use of ketamine as an enhancement for creativity, teamwork and collaboration alongside other innovative applications have been suggested. Ask this paper AI returns verbatim quotes from the full text · source: preprint-html

Answers must be backed by verbatim quotes from this paper's full text. Hallucinated quotes are dropped automatically; if no verbatim passage answers the question, we say so. How this works
