CLINICAL EFFECT OF LNG-IUS COMBINED WITH MEDICINE FOR ADENOMYOSIS

Objective To evaluate the effects of combined levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine system(LNG-IUS)with Sanjie Zhentong Capsules(SZC)and Tranexamic Acid Tablets(TAT)for adenomyosis. Methods During July 2010—April 2012,88patients confirmed with adenomyosis were divided into three groups in random:group A(35patients),the patients were placed with LNG-IUS,and took SZC and TAT according to the instructions;group B(28),a LNG-IUS was placed;group C(25),took SZC and TAT.A dysmenorrhea score was compared between the three groups after 1-,2-,3-,6-and 12-month therapy; uterine volume changes after 6-and 12-month therapy were observed,and hemoglobin and CA-125levels in those with menorrhagia after 12-month therapy was detected.Complications,such as vaginal spotting,after LNG-IUS placement,were observed. Results The dysmenorrhea score of group A at previous 6months of treatment was lower than the other two groups(F=4.648-32.009,P0.05),at month 12,the difference of the score was not significant between groups A and B,but markedly lower than group C(F=43.721,P0.05).At months 6and 12,the volume of body of uterus in groups A and B was dramatically decreased compared with before therapy(t=4.756-8.642,P0.05),that in group C,the difference was not significant compared with before therapy(P0.05).Hemoglobin of the patients with moderate to severe anemia in the three groups increased at month 12after medication,the levels of CA-125in groups A and B declined(t=6.380,6.710;P0.05),and that in group C was not significantly different(P0.05).Vaginal spotting was observed in patients in the groups A and B.Dramatic efficacy was obtained in group A with oral TAT medication. Conclusion Placing LNG-IUS combined with SZC and TAT can relieve dysmenorrhea in a short time and effectively treat adenomyosis with menorrhagia.
