Abstract
Objective To investigate the efficacy of fixed levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine system(FLRIS) in the treatment of adenomyosis. Methods According to the depth of uterine cavity,160 patients with adenomyosis were equally divi-ded into experimental group(depth of uterine cavity9 cm),and control group(≤9 cm).For patients in the experimental group,FLRIS was placed;for those in the control,LRIS was placed.A comparison between the two groups were conducted in terms of degree of dysmenorrhea, menstrual blood loss, changes of the size of uterus, and expulsion rate of the intrauterine device and its side effects after 3,6 and 12 months of placement. Results After placement of the device, the score of degree of dysmenorrhea in both groups was lower than before(F=150.780,171.311;P0.05),and menstrual blood loss reduced(F=284.371,398.720;P0.05).The differences between the two groups were not significant with regard to degree of dysmenorrhea, menstrual blood loss, changes of the size of uterus and side effects in each period(P0.05).The expulsion rate of the uterine device was lower in the experimental group than that in the control(χ2=4.20,P0.05).Conclusion FLRIS is an effective treatment for adenomyosis in patients with large uterine cavity, the device is not easy to fall off.
