Abstract

Objective:To compare the clinical therapeutic effect between laparoscopic conservative surgery and uterine arterial embolization(UAE) for endometriosis. Methods: Laparoscopic conservative surgery was performed in 42 patients with adenomyosis, and UAE procedures were performed in 45 cases. The clinical symptoms, uterine volume, serum CA125,follicle-stimulating hormone(FSH),luteinizing hormone(LH),and estradiol(E2) were observed after one, three, six and 12 months after treatment respectively. Results: After laparoscopic conservative surgery and UAE,clinical symptoms were relieved in all cases respectively(p0.05);the volume of uterine and lesions, and the level of serum CA125 were obviously reduced. There was no significant effect on ovarian endocrine function(p0.05).Conclusions: Laparoscopic conservative surgery and UAE are effective and safe methods in the treatment of adenomyosis, but UAE is more suitable for patients who have fertility requirements retaining the uterus.
