Effects of "Hongteng Recipe" on Post-operative Recurrent Endometriosis and Quality of Life:A Report of 41 Cases

Objective: To evaluate the clinical effects of Hongteng Recipe on post-operative recurrent endometriosis after operation and the quality of life of the patients.Methods: Forty-one cases of recurrent endometriosis after operation who were confirmed by pathology after laparoscopy with ovarian chocolate cyst were treated by Hongteng Recipe for three months.The clinical effects,main symptoms,the level of CA125,the size of ovarian cyst,the quality of life and the long-term effects of all the patients were observed.Results: After treatment,the total effective rate was 90.2% and the marked effective rate was 39.0%.The main symptoms such as dysmenorrhea,chronic pelvic pain,distention of breasts,aching waist and anus pain were obviously improved(P0.05 or P0.01),the level of CA125 was decreased(P0.05),the size of ovarian cyst was reduced(P0.05),the quality of life was improved and the scores of quality of life were decreased(P0.05).There were no side effects and adverse reactions in the course of treatment and follow-up.Conclusion: Hongteng Recipe can improve such main symptoms as dysmenorrhea and chronic pelvic pain,enhance the quality of life and reduce the size of ovarian cyst.
