Abstract

Endometriosis is a common but the most refractory gynecologic disorder, whereas the pharmacotherapy plays an important role in the treatment of endometriosis, which can relieve pain and reduce the relapse rate. Some drugs targeting the hypothalamus-pituitary-gonad axis have achieved good effects in clinical practice. In recent years, some new views propose that the pharmacotherapy of endometriosis should target the local lesions. In this article, the advances in the drug treatment of endometriosis that targets ectopic endometrium, including progesterone antagonist, selective progesterone receptor modulators, aromatase inhibitors,anti-angiogenic therapies, immunomodulators, and anti-inflammatory drugs are herein reviewed.
