Abstract
Lancet article titled “Estimated number of lives directly saved by COVID-19 vaccination programmes in the WHO European Region from December, 2020, to March, 2023” is not in line with official Our World Data. The article claims that COVID-19 vaccination in 2021 has reduced global mortality in 2020 by 63%. According to Our World Data in 2021 6.08 million more people died than in 2020 which means that the discrepancy between article claims of reduced global mortality and official data is 159.5%.
