Abstract

The menstrual cycle is a complex process involving a dynamic interaction between the ovaries and the endometrium, essential for egg maturation and the preparation of the uterine lining for implantation. Disruptions in this interaction, as seen in Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), can increase the risk of ovarian cancer, where hormonal imbalances and insulin resistance lead to endometrial dysfunction. Furthermore, factors such as psychological stress and infections can also disrupt the menstrual cycle and trigger systemic inflammation associated with an increased risk of ovarian cancer.
