Expressions of stem cell factor MMP-9 and in ectopic and eutopic endometrium

Objective:To study the expression of stem cell factor and MMP-9 in ectopic and eutopic endometrium in patients with endometriosis,so as to investigate pathogenesis of endometriosis.Methods: Immunohistochemical Strept Avidin Biotin Complex(SABC) methods was used to examine the expression of SCF and MMP-9 in the eutopic and ectopic endometrium from 28 endometriosis,and compare with 30 cases normal endometrium(control group).Results:(1)In the ectopic and eutopic endometrium group,SCF-positive expression of the average optical density(MOD) were higher than(P0.05) the control group.(2) In ectopic and eutopic endometrium group,MMP-9 expression were also higher than the(P0.05) of the control group.(3) According to R-AFS stage,there was no significant diference between stage I/II and stage III/IV groups(P0.05).(4) The expression of SCF was shown to be significantly correlated to the expression of MMP-9(P0.05).Conclusion: SCF and MMP-9 may play a key role in the pathogenesis of endometriosis.
