Therapeutic results of patients with endometriosis and ovarian cancer
This study compared patients with ovarian cancer coexisting with endometriosis to those with scar cancer originating from endometriosis after cesarean section, finding scar cancer patients had a significantly higher mortality risk.

This study compared therapeutic outcomes in patients with ovarian cancer that coexisted with endometriosis versus a group of patients with cancer arising in an endometriosis focus in a caesarean-scar. The authors analyzed cases operated at an oncology center in Bydgoszcz, with both endometriosis and ovarian cancer confirmed in a single tissue preparation. They found that the probability of death at any time was 7.826 times higher in the scar-cancer group than in the group with coexisting endometriosis and ovarian cancer, and they note that scar cancer on the background of endometriosis is extremely rare with overall poor prognosis. This paper is centrally about endometriosis — it focuses on therapeutic results of ovarian cancer occurring with endometriosis and discusses a particularly poor-prognosis “scar cancer” arising in endometriosis foci.
