Abstract
Objective:To explore the effects of mifepristone on edometrium and ultrastructure in rats with endometriosis. Methods:Female endometrosis rat models with Wistar grade II were created by the gastric perˉfusion of10,25,and50mg/(kg.d)mifepristone respectively in experimental groups which included group A,B,and C,and water perfusion was performed in control group. All rats were killed4weeks after the perfuˉsion.Ectopic nodules and uterus on_position were removed for pathologic and ultrastructural patholgic examiˉnations, and the serum levels of estrogen, progesterone, and cortisol were examined respectively. Results:Elecˉtron microscopic findings showed that some of the microvillus of glandular epithelium were disappeared, the cell appeared darker, and the protein secretion was observed in the tract cavity. The smooth muscle nucleus was lightly stained. There was no significant difference in both serum estrogen and progesterone levels between exˉperimental group and control group(P0.05).In comparison to control group, serum cortisol level decreased in group A(P0.05),and there was no significant difference in serum cortisol between group A,B,and control group(P0.05).Conclusion:Mifepristone can significantly inhibit endometriotic epithelium and glands, and reduce hyaline degeneratio in rats.It also can influence endometriotic structure and ultrastructural characterisˉtics.
