Giant Cell Tumour of the Medial Malleolus in a 55-Year-Old Female, picked up in an urgent care centre

Giant cell tumour (GCT) of bone is a rare, generally benign but locally aggressive lesion that typically affects the epiphyseal region of long bones 8 . The occurrence of GCT in the ankle, particularly in the medial malleolus, is extremely rare 2 . We report a case of a 55-year-old woman presenting with an 18-month history of atraumatic left ankle pain and swelling, who was ultimately diagnosed with a giant cell tumour involving the medial malleolus. This case underscores the importance of considering GCT in the differential diagnosis of chronic ankle pain with radiologic findings of lucency, even in the absence of trauma.
