A Survey On Automation of Local Government Services using Retrieval-Augmented Generation

Abstract
The Local Self Government Department (LSGD) of Kerala provides a wide array of essential services to the public, but accessing these services can be complex and time-consuming. This ideology proposes the development of a chatbot designed to automate the basic services offered by the LSGD website, with additional features such as complaint generation and local language support. By leveraging Large Language Models (LLM) and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), the chatbot will enable users to easily access and interact with government forms, schemes, and services. This technology ensures rapid adaptation to newly introduced forms and services within the government database. The chatbot is designed to simplify access to local government functions, enhance the efficiency of complaint handling, and provide multilingual support for broader accessibility. Key features include automation of services, streamlined complaint generation, and local language integration for userfriendly interactions.
