Abstract

Background: Diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disease that can cause several complications representing one of the most important health concerns now a-days. Aptamers are short single stranded DNA (ssDNA) or RNA sequences and have been recently appeared as novel recognition receptors which can be used as alternative to antibodies in biosensing devices. Materials: and Methods Characterization of the selected aptamer and its Immobilization with gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) which is used for colorimetric detection of glycated hemoglobin (HbA1C). Conclusion: The proposed method is highly sensitive & specific and could be used for detection of whole blood HbA1c levels.
