Abstract
Objective To study the expression and significance of Survivin and Smac in adenomyosis(AM)and to explore the correlation of them. Methods 38 uterus samples were collected from patients with adenomyosis, then the ectopic endometrium was taken as ectopic endometrium group(Ec group) and the eutopic endometrium which was far away from the ectopic endometrium was taken as eutopic endometrium group(Eu group). 20 uterus samples were collected from patients with fibroid and the eutopic endometrium which was far away from the fibroid was taken as control group. The apoptosis of endometrial glandular epithelium in these groups was detected by Tunel assay and the expressions of Survivin and Smac were detected by immunohistochemistry assay. Results The apoptosis index and the expression of Smac in Ec group were a little lower than those in Eu group, and those in both groups were obviously lower than those in control group. The expression of Survivin in Ec group was slightly higher than that in Eu group, and that in both groups was obviously higher than that in control group. There was a negative correlation between Survivin and Smac in Ec group, but no correlation between them in Eu group and control group was observed. Conclusion There may be a negative feedback or antagonist relationship between Survivin and Smac so as to break out the balance of apoptosis, and they may jointly promote the development of adenomyosis.
