Effect of levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine system in treatment of adenomyosis

Objective To assess the clinical efficacy of LNG-IUS in treatment of adenomyosis.Methods 50 patients with adenomyosis were treated with LNG-IUS.The severity of dysmenorrheal,menstrual blood volume,endometrial thickness,uterine volume,hemoglobin and CA-125 were observed.Results After treatment of LNG-IUS,the dysmenorrhea was completely catabatic,the menstrual blood volume significantly reduced,the endometrium become thinner,and the uterine volume was decreased,hemoglobin increased and CA-125 decreased.Conclusion LNG-IUS is an effective and safe method in treatment of adenomyosis.
