Abstract

Objective:To evaluate the MRI features of uterine leiomyomas and the value of MRI in diagnosing uterine leiomyomas.Methods:30 patients with uterine leiomyomas were examined with SE sequence,T 1 and T 2 weighted imaging were performed on transverse plane and T 2 weighted imaging was performed on sagittal and coronal planes. The MRI features of 78 lesions in 30 patients with uterine leiomyomas were analysed retrospectively. All cases were confirmed surgically and pathologically.Results:78 lesions were detected by MRI in 30 patients with total 86 lesions, the detective rate was 90.7%,of them 16 were sub-serosa,60 were myometrium and 2 were endometrium. The accuraterate of localization by MR was 89,7%.The signal intensity of lesions was isointensity in 52 and hypointensity in 18 on T 1WI,hypointensity in 66and isointensity in 4 on T 2WI.The signal intensity was heterogeneous on T 2WI in 8 lesions which represented cystic degeneration or red degeneration. The boundaries of all lesions were definite. Conclusion:MRI is the best methods for the diagnosis of uterine leiomyomas.
