Knowledge, Attitude and Practice of Parents towards Prevention of Child Sexual Abuse in Khartoum Sudan 2021

Abstract
Background: Numerous studies have shown that child sexual abuse is a severe issue all over the world. The issue is spreading and poses a risk of negative outcomes. Most parents are not aware of the growing severity and pervasiveness of child sexual abuse Objectives: The objectives of this study was to assess Parents knowledge, attitudes and practices on child sexual abuse and its prevention in Khartoum Sudan in order to strengthen child protection. Method: ology: This community-based cross-sectional survey was carried out in 2021. Parents with kids were chosen at random to make up the study's population. To evaluate parents' knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding preventing child sexual abuse, a quantitative approach utilizing structured questions was used. Results: : Total of 137 parents were interviewed the majority of the parent’s respondents 126 (92%) had high knowledge on child sexual abuse, while 10 (7.3%) were ranked as having poor level of Knowledge. Majority 120 (87.6%) of the respondents had positive attitude towards child sexual abuse. Conclusions: and recommendations: In the research area, parents had a high level of knowledge and attitudes regarding preventing child sexual abuse. However, parents' approaches to preventing child sexual abuse were inadequate. Therefore, a public education campaign is required for parents, with the ultimate goal of preventing children in Khartoum, Sudan, from suffering the harm and anguish of sexual abuse. It is recommended to emphasis on practices towards prevention of child sexual abuse more, more scientific research on the issue of sexual harassment, enforcement of the laws that protect children against sexual abuse
