The influences of leiomyoma and endometriosis on female sexual function

Abstract

Objective To evaluate the influences of leiomyoma and endometriosis on female sexual function.Methods Patients with operative indication for leiomyoma or endometriosis were collected.There were three groups in eluding leiomyoma group, endometriosis group and normal control, 100 cases in each.Subjects were asked to complete the questionnaires, the Brief Index of Sexual Function for Chinese Women (BISF-W), concerned sexual desire, arousability, sexual climax, dyspareunia, etc. The answers were evaluated using nonparametric test. Results There were statistically significant changes in women 's sexual desire, arousability and climax between leiomyoma group as well as endometriosis group and normal control.However, endometriosis produced more severe symptoms during sexual intercourse such as pain than leiomyoma did. Conclusion Leiomyoma and endometriosis have negative influences on female sexual function, and there is no significant difference between these two diseases.
