Abstract

Objective: To investigate the diagnostic value of ultrasonography and serum CA 125 in adenomyosis. Methods: 120 cases of adenomyosis and myoma of uterus were analysed. All cases were carried out the ultrasonography of type B and detected the serum CA 125 before operation, and then compared with the postoperative pathological examination which could make accurate diagnosis. Results: The positive rate and specificity of serum CA 125 for diagnosis of adenomyosis were 73.8% and 73.5%. The sensitivity and specificity of ultrasonography of type B for diagnosis of adenomyosis were 55.4% and 64.8%. If combining these two methods as diagnostic criteria, the sensitivity and specificity were 52.5% and 94.1%. Conclusions: The determination of serum CA 125 is helpful for the auxiliary diagnosis of adenomyosis. Ultrasonography is rather valuable for the diagnosis of adenomyosis. The diagnostic accuracy may be enhanced after combining them that provide quick, convenient, noninvasive, and practical diagnostic method.
