Abstract
Objective To investigate the expression and association of the extracellular matrix metalloproteinase inducer(EMMPRIN),the matrix metalloproteinases-9(MMP-9),and the P38 mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK) in patients diagnosed with endometriosis(EMs).Methods The expression of EMMPRIN,MMP-9,P38,p-P38 was detected by SABC immunohistochemistry in 44 patients with EMs (44 ectopic endometrium,38 eutopic endometrium),and compared with 34 normal endometrium with non-endometriosis.Correlation analysis was done. Results The positive expression rates of EMMPRIN,MMP-9,P38 and p-P38 in the ectopic endometrium with EMs were significantly higher than the eutopic endometrium group and the control group(P0.05).Spearman correlation analysis showed that positive correlation was found in EMMPRIN,MMP-9,P38 and p-P38 in the ectopic endometrium group(P0.05).The expression level of EMMPRIN,MMP-9,P38 and p-P38 in the stages of Ⅲ~Ⅳ displayed significantly higher than those in Ⅰ~Ⅱ in the ectopic endometrium group(P0.05).The positive expression rates were no significant difference between the eutopic endometrium group and the control group(P0.05).Conclusion The expression of EMMPRIN,MMP-9 in the ectopic endometrium with EMs was significantly higher and positive correlation, and they may play an important role in implantation and development.P38 MAPK may have a pathophysiological role in EMs.
