Diagnosis of Uterine Leiomyomas by Low-Field MRI and DSA Appearance

Abstract

Objective To approach the value of low-field MRI in the diagnosis of uterine leiomyomas,and compare DSA appearance.Methods Sixteen patients with clinical diagnosis of uterine leiomyomas underwent MR examination at a low-field MR scanner and uterine artery angiography before uterine artery embolizations under DSA.Results Eight cases were diagnosed simple uterine leiomyomas,six cases with multi-leiomyomas and two cases with leiomyomas combineing adenomyosis on ultrasound and MRI.The leiomyomas presented as morderate signal intensity on T1WI and characteristic low signal intensity on T2WI on the low-field MR.DSA displayed uterine artery widen,blood vessel of leiomyomas showed hold-ball appearance,parenchymal phase offered obviously dyeing.Conclusion Low-field MRI had great value in diagnosing leiomyomas with respect to the size,position and relationship with uterine cavity and in identifying the nature of leiomyomas.There was higher dependability to DSA angiography appearance.
