Abstract

Abstract Bubbles are commonly regarded as fragile and ephemeral structures due to liquid film drainage and evaporation 1–4 . Previous attempts to extend bubble lifespan have relied on carefully controlled environmental conditions and the suppression of external perturbations 5 . In this study, we present a counterintuitive phenomenon: the stabilization of sessile bubbles through vertical vibration. Contrary to the expectation that vibration would destabilize bubbles, we demonstrate that it can significantly enhance their stability and longevity. Our research reveals that vibration reorients the dynamic fluid equilibrium towards a new quasi-static state, effectively counteracting bubble film drainage. Under optimal vibration parameters, we observed bare bubbles exhibiting unprecedented robustness, persisting for several hours and even remaining puncture-proof. Our research prompts a reassessment of the exotic phenomenon of vibration enhanced stability in bubble fluid dynamics, providing a new platform for innovative applications in medicine, biologics, and industry.
