Abstract

Objective: To investigate the expression of Cyclooxygenase-2 in cultured murine podocytes in order to study the COX-2 expression in apoptotic cells exposed to puromycin aminonucleoside. Methods: Experiments were performed using growth-restricted,conditionally immortalized mouse podocytes.Western blot was used to detect the expression of COX-2 in podocytes. Results: At the permissive temperature of 33℃,the conditionally immortalized human podocytes grew in a cobblestone morphology. They are grown arborized under nonpermissive conditions at 37℃.For passaging cells, podocytes were grown under growth restrictive conditions at 37℃ for 14 days. The COX-2 expression increased over time. The highest level was found at 24 hour.Afterwards it decreased gradually. Conclusion: The COX-2 expression in podocytes was time-dependent.
