Sixty years of predictive perception
preprint
OA: closed
Abstract
We know that our perception is influenced by our expectations, which are based on our previous experience. Although this has been talked about for hundreds of years, there have been technological and theoretical advances over the past few years which have enabled a surge in new discoveries in the field of predictive perception. In this paper, we outline some of these advances and emphasise that scientific progress is a collective effort in which new technologies and theories build upon each other in a virtuous cycle.
