Abstract

PHARMACOLOGICALLY induced hyperprolactin- aemia may be useful for fertility control, parti- cularly during breast-feeding (Bonnar et aZ., 1975). Sulpiride, tiapride, thyrotropin releasing hormone and metoclopramide have been re- ported to produce effects on the menstrual cycle ranging from minimal disturbance to anovula- tion. Domperidone, a dopamine receptor antagonist which does not cross the blood-brain barrier and has few side effects, causes a greater than 10-fold increase in serum prolactin levels in female subjects (Brouwers et aL, 1980). We have studied its potential for fertility control. METHODS
