Innovative Use of Magnetic Crowns for Pulp Vitality and Regeneration

Abstract
Preserving the vitality of the dental pulp is critical in maintaining long-term tooth health and function. Conventional dental restorations often compromise the pulp chamber, leading to shrinkage, necrosis, or eventual root canal treatment. This concept introduces a novel approach using strategically placed magnets within dental crowns to either attract or repel each other, based on intended clinical outcomes. Attracting magnets aim to maintain pulp integrity by enhancing fluid dynamics and possibly stimulating pulp regeneration. Repelling magnets, on the other hand, may exert mechanical force on the pulpal wall and potentially stimulate biological ossification through magnetomechanical stimulation. This hypothesis explores the biomechanical and physiological pathways that could enable such outcomes, and proposes a platform for future in vitro and in vivo studies.
