Abstract

COVID-19 vaccination with a mRNA vaccine should, as will be explained using the example of Denmark, be mandatory for a previously overlooked reason: Given the complexity of the pandemic and the number of vaccination opponents, a solid foundation of the refusal can neither be assumed nor assessed in individual cases. However, accepting the rejection without offering every possible vaccinee a clarifying argumentative dialogue or an obligation to vaccinate means that politics neglects the need for guidance of the individual and at best reveals an ethical indifference to his or her fate.
