Comparison of clinical effects of gestrinone (imported) and danazol in treating severe endometriosis after operation

Abstract
AIM: To explore the recurrent rate and adverse reactions of gestrinone or danazol in treating severe endometriosis after operation. METHODS:Sixty six patients with severe endometriosis after operation were treated with gestrinone or danazol. Among them, 36 patients took gentrinone 2.5 mg,biw for 3-6 mo, 30 patients took danazol 200 mg,bid or tid for 3-6 mo , then all of them were followed for 1 2 a. The clinical symptom, adverse reactions and pregnancy were observed. RESULTS: Two drugs had 100 % efficiency. Gestrinone had 6 % recurrent rate and 64 % pregnancy rate. Danazol had 16 % recurrent rate and 50 % pregnancy rate. Gestrinone had mild adverse reactions. CONCLUSION: Both gestrinone and danazol can prevent recurrence of endometriosis after operation, elevate pregnancy rate. But gestrinone has mild adverse reactions and convenience.
