Abstract
Objective In order to explore whether PTEN was involved in the pathogenesis and progression of endometriosis,we evaluated phosphatase and tension homologue deleted on chromosome 10(PTEN) in endometriosis and the endometrium of non-endometriosis.Methods The expression of PTEN in eutopic and ectopic endometrium obtained from 45 patients with endometriosis, including 30 ovarian endometriosis and 15 adenomyosis, was analyzed by immunohistochemical method. The endometrium of non-endometriosis taken from 40 cases as controls. Results The expression of PTEN was found at epithelial cell nuclei,a little was at interstitial cells.PTEN in the endometrium of non-endometriosis showed high expression(92.5%),in the ectopic endometrium was significantly decreased(37.8%),in the eutopic endometrium was between them above(68.9%).Compared between the ectopic, eutopic endometrium and the endometrium of non-endometriosis there were statistically different. Conclusion The express decrease or deletion of PTEN is possibly one of the pathogenesis of endometriosis.PTEN may be regulates the menstrual cycle.
