Background

Endometriosis is a rather frequent concern especially for the younger patients. We collected the most illustrative cases of both pelvic and extra pelvic involvement from the department of radiology of the Rabta teaching hospital, Tunis. Findings and procedure details Endometriosis is a chronic disease that is caused by the presence of endometrial tissue outside of the uterus, presenting in different forms based on the involved organs :-superficial endometriosisincluding peritoneal wall and superficial ovarian implants.- deep pelvic endometriosisinfiltrating the rectal wall, the urinary tract, the pelvic wall and the bowel,etc..-extra-pelvic endometriosisincluding parietal and thoracic involvement.Due to the complexity and the multifocality of the disease, a standardised MRI protocol is a must for an accurate assessment of the lesions. Establishing a systematic protocol ensures consistency in...

Conclusion

MRI is the imaging modality of choice for the mapping of pelvic and extra-pelvic endometriosic involvement, and should therefore be well performed and thouroughly examined, especially prior to surgical interventions.
