Determination of IFN-γ and IL-4 in Peripheral Blood and Abdominal Fluid among the Patients with Endometriosis and its Relation

[Objective]To explore the concentrations of interferon-γ(IFN-γ) and interleukin-4(IL-4) secreted by T helper cell(Th cell) in the peripheral blood and fluid among patients.[Methods]24 patients with histopathological diagnosed endometriosis after operation were selected as endometriosis group,24 patients with leiomyoma or benign ovarian tumor were selected as control group.Th cell in the peripheral blood and peritoneal fluid were isolated and cultured,the concentrations of IFN-γ and IL-4 in culture media were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA),and the ratio of IFN-γ/IL-4 was calculate.[Results]The mean concentration of IFN-γ secreted by Th cell in peritoneal blood and abdominal fluid is both significantly lower than that in control group(P0.01);The mean IL-4 is both higher than that in control group(P0.05).The ratio of IFN-γ/ IL-4 is both significantly lower than that in control group(P0.01).[Conclusion]The Th cell of endometriosis group secreting IFN-γ is declined but secreting IL-4 is significantly strengthened.Therefore,the decline of IFN-γ/ IL-4 suggests that there is unbalanced between Th1 and Th2.All these changes accelerate the beginning of endometriosis.
