By analysing feeding patterns of parrot species across a range of body sizes, using a total of 25,420 feeding records, we explore interspecies competition for fruit resources across different seasons. Larger parrot species (notably the macaws) exhibit more specialised dietary niches, overlapping most with uacaris during high fruit availability periods, while smaller parrots show more generalist tendencies and lower overlap. Findings suggest that parrot body size and beak morphology, along with seasonal shifts in fruit abundance, play a critical role in dietary partitioning and resource competition in this diverse tropical community. It also indicates that, while resource overlap is most extensive between macaws and uacaris (both hard-fruit specialists), overlap also occurs between uacaris and even the smallest parrots, especially during periods low fruit availability. Thus, dietary niche overlap between uacaris and parrots is not, as previous work suggested, confined to large species (macaws and Amazona parrots), but occurs with all species depending on the time of the year.
