The Analysis of LNG-IUS in the Treatment of 98 Adenomyosis

Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of levonorgestrel-releasing intrauterine system(LNG-IUS)in treating adenomyosis.Methods Ninty-eight patients with adenomysois were followed up in 1,3,6,9 months after placing LNG-IUS dysmenorrhea,menstrual blood volume and menstrual period were compared.Results Ninty-eight patients had alleviated dysmenorrhea obviously after placing LNG-IUS in one month and three months with significantly less scores [(1.20±0.15)、(0.10±0.02)scores] by dysmenorrhea grading than before[(2.20±0.35) scores](P0.05),after six months,dysmenorrhea disappeared.Andmenstrual blood volume of the patients after placing LNG-IUS in one month decreased remarkably(P0.05),which reduced from [(112±52)mL]to [(78±30)mL],and went on declined after 3、6、9 months,16 menostasis after 9 months.The patients menstrual period were evidently longer after LNG-IUS placed for one month [(11.5±3.1)d] than before[(6.1±2.8)d](P0.05),but fell back to primary state after three months[(16.9±2.0)d,P0.05],and were shorter significantly than before after six months[(3.9±1.1)d](P0.05).Conclusions LIG-IUS placed in uterus is an safe,effective and micro-invasive therapy for adenomyosis,which can effectively relieve dysmenorrhea as well as uterine preservation,cut down menstrual blood volume and shorten menstrual period.
