Abstract

Objective To investigate the clinicopathological features of uterine smooth muscle tumors. Methods Clinical and pathological data from 246 cases of uterine smooth muscle tumors were analyzed retrospectively. Results The peak time for incidence of uterine smooth muscle tumors is in patients with 40 ~ 50 years old.Uterine smooth muscle tumors could co-exist with other diseases such as endometrial hyperplasia, adenomyosis, all kinds of benign or malignant pathological change of cervix and ovary.Among 246 cases, the percentage for usual leiomyoma, special leiomyoma, leiomyosarcoma, and smooth muscle tumor with uncertain malignant potential is 91.4%,6.9%,0.8%,and 0.8%,respectively.Conclusion Uterine smooth muscle tumors is gynecological common tumors.Coagulative(tumor) necrosis, severe nuclear atypia, and high mitotic rate are major criterion for diagnosis of benign and malignant tumors.Multiple clinicopathologic factors should be analyzed to predict biological behavior of uterine smooth muscle tumors.
