Abstract

Objective: To observe clinical effect of SanHua YiShen Tang in the treatment for endometriosis(EM) and investigate its mechanism. Methods: Sixty endometriosis patients were randomized into the treatment group and the control gorup. The cases of the treatment group were treated with SanHua YiShen decoction, one dose a day, the patients in the control group were administered with gestrinone, 2.5 mg each time, twice each week, after treating for three consecutive months, total effective rate, the improvements of subjective symptoms, uterine volume and pelvic mass, the changes of serum carbohydrate antigen 125(CA125), estrogen(E2), prolactin(PRL), progesterone(P), vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF), tumor necrosis factor(TNF-α) and interleukin6(IL-6) were compared in both groups. Results: Total effective rate of the treatment group was 90%, higher than 86.7% of the control group, but the difference had no statistical meaning(P0.05); the contents of CA125, E2, PRL, VEGF, TNF-α and IL-6 of both groups after treating were decreased compared with before treating significantly, P level was raised;subjective symptoms were improved notably; pelvic mass was reduced compared with before treating, the decrease of the treatment group was more notable compared with the control group(P0.05), there was no change in uterine volume between before and after treating(P0.05). Conclusion: SanHua YiShen Tang is effective in eliminating the lesions, relieving the pain, increasing conception rate and reducing the recidivism by inhibiting the dissemination of ectopic endometrium.
