Abstract
AIM To investigate the effect of mifepristone induced amenorrhea of peri-menopausal period dysfunctional uterine bleeding.METHODS Three hundred and thirty-two patients were selected without contraindication of using mfepristone and indication of operation.First we stopped bleeding by doing diagnostic curettages, precluded malignant disease, and then gave them low dose of mifepristone for 6 months to observe the effects of derivation of amenorrhea and the variations of endocrine and the thickness of endometrium.RESULTS In this period all patients were amenerrheic, after discontinuation 301 patients developed into critique age directly,22 patients became oligomenorrhea, and 9 patients reverted nomal flow. The sex hormone level's changing had statistical significantly between before and after treatment[follicle-stimulatinghormone:(10.5 ±4.5)U·L-1 vs(7.1±2.7)U·L-1,luteinizing hormone:(8.1±1.7)U·L-1 vs(5.8±2.5)U·L-1,progesterone:(5.4±0.3)nmol·L-1 vs(3.2±0.2)nmol·L-1,estradiol:(35.1±25.1)pmol·L-1 vs(10.9±8.7)pmol·L-1,prolactin:(0.58±0.03)nmol·L-1 vs(0.49±0.02)nmol·L-1].The endometrium atrophied obviously and the anaemia was retrieved.CONCLUSION It has significant effect and little adverse reaction to use mifepristone to induce amenorrhea of period dysfunctional uterine bleeding.
